Paralysis (also known as plegia |Hemiplegia) is a loss of motor function in one or more muscles. Paralysis can be accompanied by a loss of feeling (sensory loss) in the affected area if there is sensory damage as well as motor. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paralysis
Hemiplegia is the commonest manifestation of a stroke with neurological deficit affecting the face, limbs and trunk on one side or either side of the body. Impulses for voluntary movement are transmitted by the pyramidal tracts or upper motor neurons. Damage to these pyramidal tracts due to any lesion, trauma, ischemia or haemorrhage produces paralysis.
